The Australian Christian Churches (our church movement) was initiated with four fundamental principles that we embrace as a church: 

1. Pentecostal – Evident in the POWER (including office directed, gifts and fruit) of the Holy Spirit 

2. Evangelistic & missional – Reaching out, not calling in 

3. Influential – shaping theology and community 

4. Biblical Relevance – touching the entirety of the generation alive. 

 

In that light, we have the following mission: 

 

To present opportunities for people to express their faith through evangelism, worship, and fellowship 

 

This church has a mission to connect everyone in to a unified goal of evangelism, worship and fellowship. Our church vision is not a job for professionals or paid employees, but a combined effort of people working in together. We will aim to work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. A majority of our staff will be a mass number of volunteers who are engaging a personal mission of ministry. 

 

We are a personal church. This mission is biblically defined in Ephesians 2:19-22 - we are all “the church” and every member plays an important part. 

 

To create an environment for people to connect and mature a meaningful relationship with God 

 

Everything we do in our church is evangelistic. No matter what area we serve in, it moves people to want to know who Jesus is. Whether its handing out food, cleaning the toilets, bringing friends and strangers to church, life groups, worship team, kids church volunteer, etc. these things are a vital part of sharing the Gospel message. We do not separate stage ministry, rosters, and daily expressions of evangelism. 

 

We are an evangelistic church. This mission is biblically defined in 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 - we are unified, not uniform. We are not robots all doing the same thing. Rather, we are connected to achieve a singular purpose – like limbs or organs of a body. 

 

To equip and train the congregation to become kingdom builders in our community. 

 

We believe that people in helping people, not controlling people. We believe that our leaders role is to develop an environment for people to grow. We are shepherds, not surrogate sheep.  The role of leadership is equipping, not doing for people. Townsville City Church is committed to the development of people to live life fully (as God designed). 

 

We are an equipping church. Biblically presented in John 10:10, Jesus defines the purpose of the messiah to bring every Christian to living an abundant life. If the job description of Jesus was to do this then its is also the job description of His Church. 

 

To aggressively influence the surrounding community with the sole purpose of advertising the glory, majesty, and power of God through the power of the Holy Spirit. 

 

We are a church that is reaching out to this generation and the next as well. This is not just a youth church or a social care church – the gospel must be contemporary and relevant across every age and social group.  

 

We are a generational church. Matthew 28:18 tells that the church is commissioned to reach and disciple all, no matter their gender, cultural, social or geographical differences.
