One of the most celebrated aspects of the Church in its conception is its amazing unity. In Acts 2 (vs 42-47), Luke makes the amazing statement “All the believers were together and had everything in common…and the Lord added to them daily”. Unity is such a powerful thing. Unity can build a church into a developing movement, an influence on the world around it. Unity is the very resonance of the sound of heaven that melodically plays through the church to the world who does not understand God.

Easter - Good Friday Service
Join us at 10am for a amazing look at the "Road to Golgotha" a interesting display of the physical endurance of The Christ that bought about Redemption, Salvation, Propitiation, and Atonement.

It is no wonder that the greatest attack of the church is not from demonic forces or other belief systems, but from within itself, threatening the ability it has to survive. Unity can make - disunity will destroy.

Now I have heard people use unity as the stick to wield power and control, but that’s not what God intended it to be. Unity is the subtle tension (like the strings of a guitar) that one finds between uniformity and individualism. On one hand we are connected in together, bound by a common cause and following the leadership set before us. On the other hand we are separated by the many ways in which we achieve the goals of our church. Unity finds celebration in both of these opposing elements of Church life. It creates an atmosphere of honour, possibilities, and community – anything else is a mere shadow of what God has purposed.

Can I encourage you that as we focus on unity this month that you take the time to tune your heart to the right notes. Individualism will make us flat and soggy in our walk along life’s journey. Conformity will tension our life until something snaps. But Unity brings us to the point where life may hit against us, but the sound we make is sweet.

The great journey of life is in front of us all. As a church, we have choices to make as well. The choice to improve, build, make an impact, leave a heritage are just as pertinent to the body as much as the individual. Only together can we make the right choice. Together we can move forward. Unified together we can be the church that God has designed for us.

I am looking forward to seeing our Unity grow stronger.
