About US

Townsville City Church exists to equip individuals, empower families, and to be active, positive participants in our city and nation.

The role of our church is to help each person to reach for his or her potential. We believe that this is the message of Jesus Christ - to bring "life and life more abundant" (John 10:10). God wants the very best for you - we believe that this best is found in knowing who we are and who God is.

We work as a community in a community, a vision that includes youth and children's outreaches, ministry to the every walk of life, facilities for compassionate care, training, education, recreation, and daily ministry to everyone in the Townsville area.

Community In Action

Townsville City Church offers a wide range of help. Our church is more than just an organization. It’s a community of people who live to help each other. While some of our areas of help are from professionally trained counselors, we also offer some peer-to-peer help. We are here to help you. We currently provide:

Our Pastors

Senior Pastors

Ross and Diane Taylor

Ross and Diane have a tremendous passion to see people grow. In 1998 they moved to Townsville with a passion to see church as a place where families can really grow and flourish.

"I want a church that I would want to come to with my family. Our kids always liked being a part of church and I want to keep that legacy alive for others." Ross says.

They have been married for 40 years and have raised three children who are now married with children of their own.

For many years, Ross was employed as a Telecom technician, working in the radio and television broadcast industry. In this job he also served the local church and over time became the assistant pastor of Mackay Christian Family. After leaving his employment with Telecom, Ross accepted the position as Associate Pastor of MCF. He became instrumental in the conceptualization, development and building of the premises that is in use today.

Diane has been right there for the entire journey. As a devoted wife, she determined not to let work come in between the young family. She toured with Ross as he installed color transmitters across western Queensland. Showing the true Aussie spirit, she towed the caravan and their two sons from country town, through dustbowls, and slippery black mud. She actually became a Christian before Ross, and they have some stories to tell about those years. But she has also been instrumental in the growth and development of people in their ministry. Saving children from abortion, counseling mothers, and leading people to pray. Diane loves to give with a wrapping of love and care. Over the years she has been the women's pastor, highly awarded student, community challenger, and citizen of the year.

When they moved to Townsville City church there were about 40 people attending in an upstairs room. But over the past 10 years God has blessed them with a steadily growing church. Ross says,
"Its not the numbers you have, its the gifts God give you that is important. Every person that walks into our lives is an amazing gift from God. We are privileged that they would call us THEIR Pastors."

Over the years they have been instrumental in many different facets of ministry, stretching the walls of the church as much as possible. They started a Christian Radio station in Mackay, North Queensland. They also launched an extension college for people to study from home. They established a "Work for the Dole" project; a community project that received a PM award; a "Get Set For Work Project"; and they have put together 3 Barnabas Houses for abused children. But in all this Ross and Diane have been an advocate for people and equipping God factor in them. They are continually incorporating people in an equipping ministry with the desire to enable.

Apart from their family and friends at Townsville City Church, Ross and Diane still love roughing it, fishing, a good cuppa and their dog (Lady).
"Love God, Love People, Love Life - that sums it up for me" says Diane.

Lewis & Annette Turner

Lewis and Annette have been in the church for just under 5 years. They are both instrumental in holding the outstretched net of our church together. They give of themselves to people in their daily ministry to care for people. Annette also runs the administration of the office and is Pastor Ross' personal Assistant. Lewis is the shepherds pastor as he cares for leaders in our 'front house' and in the general church.

Darron And Rebekah Hayhoe

Darron has been working in youth ministry for the past 13 years. He has been saving kids, seeing God heal them and setting them free. His last youth group grew from 3 to 200 in two years! (Interesting times!)

Darron was playing professional football in Mackay and for the Aussie Team. He was also one of Australian Idols "Top 40" in 2005. But his true passion is to see people saved and disciple into the Kingdom of God.

Rebekah has been a right there the whole way. She worked in the meat works and then took a promotion as a mother and youth pastor. Her life has had some tremendous highs and some deep lows, but through it all God has given her an amazing testimony and fantastic wisdom to deal with day-to-day life.

Darron says - "I'm led continually by the Holy Spirit. I don't ever profess to know it all, but I do know what God can do in people's lives."

Darron is our one of the most dynamic Youth Preachers. Darron is married (to Rebekah) with three great kids. Together this family has an incredible depth to their lives and we are excited to have them as part of our team. Pastor Darron is available for weekend ministry, his availability is limited. Bookings can be made through the office. Contact Townsville City Church for more information.
